ABSTRACT: This study examines the role of vocational education in community development, focusing on its impact on local economies, social cohesion, and sustainable development. The objectives were to (1) assess the contributions of vocational education programs to community development initiatives, (2) evaluate the socio-economic benefits and challenges associated with vocational training, and (3) propose strategies to maximize the role of vocational education in fostering community development. A survey design was chosen to gather data from vocational graduates, community leaders, and government officials, offering insights into the perceived impact and effectiveness of vocational programs. The sample size comprised 250 participants, selected through purposive sampling to include stakeholders from diverse vocational sectors and community development projects across Nigeria. The case study focused on Oyo State, known for its vibrant vocational education initiatives and community engagement efforts. Findings indicated that vocational education played a pivotal role in enhancing local employment opportunities, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering community resilience. Recommendations included strengthening partnerships between vocational institutions and local industries, expanding vocational training opportunities in underserved communities, and advocating for policies that prioritize vocational education as a catalyst for sustainable community development.
